A woman in Thailand recently made headlines after embarking on a 30-hour mission to find her lost diamond ring.

Valued at 400,000 baht (around S$15,700), the ring had slipped into the bin when she took it off to wash her hands.

Apitchaya Ning documented the arduous search process in a TikTok video, which has since garnered over 2.8 million views at the time of writing.

After falling into the bin, the ring ended up in a landfill in Nakhon Phanom.

According to a TikTok user who commented on the post, each district has its own collection point before trash is dumped into the landfill.

To assist in the search, Ms Apitchaya hired a team for 20,000 baht (S$780) — a fraction of the ring’s value.

What followed was a tough task of sifting through mountains of rubbish to locate the tiny ring.

Addressing concerns about the hired searchers possibly keeping the ring if they found it, Ms Apitchaya reassured everyone that she was transparent about the situation.

“I told them it was a diamond ring, so they searched very carefully,” she said.

After more than a day of searching, their efforts finally paid off when the diamond ring was retrieved from the landfill.

In her TikTok video, Ms Apitchaya proudly showed off the ring, which, despite being covered in dirt, still sparkled.

She also posted a separate 14-second clip showcasing the ring gleaming in the sunlight.
