HAWTHORNE, Calif. (CBS Newspath/WKRC) - Homeowners submitted alleged video "proof" of paranormal activity from their Ring doorbell cameras.
Ring, the security camera company, is inviting users to participate in "Ring's Great Ghost Search" by submitting videos of ghostly sightings captured on their devices. The contest, which offers a $100,000 prize, has already attracted nearly 4,000 entries, according to a press release from Ring.
The company has received a variety of intriguing submissions, including footage of a mysterious figure appearing on a patio in Los Angeles, a dark object floating in a New Jersey toy store, and a possible ghost dog running through a yard in Georgia. Other notable entries include a homeowner in Louisiana who believes they captured a ghostly man and his dog, and a preschool owner in Colorado who thinks they saw the ghost of a child.
Ring said that all videos are submitted directly from the Ring app, ensuring the footage remains unedited. The contest is open until November 1, 2024, and encourages users to submit anything from genuine paranormal activity to friends and family in costume.
The winner will receive $100,000, which Ring suggests could be used for a down payment on a new home or a ghost-free vacation.
