Fans have torn into Kim Kardashian for wearing Princess Diana's iconic cross necklace, calling the fashion move 'vulgar.'

The reality star, 44, donned the symbolic piece at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala on Saturday in Los Angeles.

She paired the antique amethyst necklace, worn by the late royal princess at a charity event in 1987, with a plunging white gown that showcased her ample cleavage, and other large jewelry pieces.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians alum purchased the Attallah Cross at a Sotheby’s auction for just under $200,000 in 2023, as she wore it for the first time over the weekend.

Critics quickly branded the mother-of-four as 'sleazy' and 'tone deaf' for her fashion decision.

'She turned it into something vulgar,' a user wrote on X.

'She had the audacity to put it on with this dress. Purely tone deaf, uneducated narcissistic unattractive brain,' wrote another.

The multi-media superstar would add an ivory coat to the ensemble, which she wore off-the-shoulder.

Rounding out her overall look for the event, Kardashian had her dark tresses in a sleek bob with a part off to the left, while her makeup consisted of winged eyeliner, brown eyeshadow and a nude lip.

Named for its previous owner, Naim Attallah, the Palestinian-British businessman lent the amethyst and diamond piece to Diana throughout the 1980s.

Diana, Princess Of Wales, was pictured wearing the pendant on a string of pearls when she attended the 1987 Birthright charity gala, where she donned a purple velvet Catherine Walker gown.

The Attallah Cross was originally made by Garrand in the 1920s, and features square-cut amethysts surrounded by 5.25 carats of circular-cut diamonds.

Featuring 900 pearls, the late Princess Of Wales wore it at several events, including film and theater premieres over the years.

'She wants to be connected to the Royal Family so bad,' someone commented.

'Could Kim look more sleazy? She’s fake from head to toe,' wrote another.

Another user said: 'Perfect example of class vs. trash.'

'If you're going to wear such a sacred religious symbol at least wear it with some class as Diana did. Show some respect...' someone said.

Another person, like many, noted her plunging neckline, and said: 'The boobs practically out waving around while wearing a giant cross necklace is so tacky.'

'Wearing a cross while exposing your breasts is an odd choice, Kim,' said another.

'Kim is so desperate to be remembered like that of other famous women ~ Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Diana, etc., and she thinks she can buy her way to the top,' another said.

This is not the first time she has worn a timeless piece that once belonged to a prominent woman, as she donned Marilyn Monroe's 'Happy Birthday Mr. President' dress to the Met Gala in 2022.

Soon after, she was accused of damaging the nude gown by The Marilyn Monroe Collection, who said the dress had 'missing crystals' while some were left 'hanging by a thread.'

Princess Diana, born Diana Frances Spencer, whose activism and glamor helped make her an international icon with seemingly enduring popularity, was just 36 when she tragically died in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris, France while her driver was fleeing the paparazzi on August 31, 1997.

Notables from the art, film, fashion, and entertainment industries gathered for the 13th annual LACMA Art+Film Gala, which was sponsored by Gucci.

It supports the museum's curatorial programming, exhibitions, acquisitions and more programs that explore the intersection of art and film.

This year's event honored Elvis writer and director Baz Luhrmann and sculptor Simone Leigh, while LACMA trustee Eva Chow and actor Leonardo DiCaprio served as co-chair of the event for the 13th consecutive year.

Proceeds from the annual Art+Film Gala go toward underwriting LACMA’s initiative to make film more central to the museum’s curatorial programming, while also funding LACMA’s broader mission. This includes exhibitions, acquisitions, and educational programming, in addition to screenings that explore the intersection of art and film.
