Last week, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands headed out for a pair of visits to Dutch villages, wearing a jewel-toned outfit with striking statement jewelry.

On Tuesday, Queen Máxima headed in Waalwijk, where she opened the Dushi Huis Waalwijk, which houses children and young people who need a long-term, safe home. She also visited Klaaswaal for a visit focused on the the quality of life and the strong ties in the close-knit community, with stops at a new housing project, a community center, a music association, and a local football club.

The Queen was dressed in Natan for the community visits, including a bright blue coat and matching handbag and an emerald green dress.

With such a bright ensemble, others might have chosen less colorful jewelry, but Maxima is, as always, delightfully bold with her accessory choices. Per UFO No More, the large gold button earrings that she wore come from the Danish brand Monies.

The gold-toned clip earrings are made of sculpted acacia wood. Máxima has had them in her collection for at least two years.

Máxima added even more splashes of color to her outfit with a new statement necklace, featuring several large gemstones in a modern pendant setting.

The necklace, ModeKoninginMaxima tells us, comes from the brand Olympia Babylonia. The Totem Necklace is made of gold-plated brass and set with (from top to bottom) lapis lazuli, white onyx, hand-carved adventurine, and amethyst. The bright red crescent-shaped coral piece at the bottom of the necklace is reportedly synthetic.

To me, the necklace is a really interesting fusion of contemporary design and vintage aesthetic styles. I can clearly see the echoes of Art Deco design here, as well as Deco revival features that were popular in the 1980s.

Queen Máxima finished off the jewelry look with bracelets: her gold and diamond bangle and her diamond family initial bracelet stacked with a red string piece on her right wrist, and a gold charm bracelet worn beside her watch on her left. She also wore her engagement and wedding rings on her left hand.
